FAQ

Questions, answered plainly

The things parents and kids ask us most. If yours isn't here, just ask — we answer every inquiry personally.

Getting started

What to expect before your child's first project.

Do they need any experience?

No. Every program starts from the basics and ramps up. Total beginners are welcome, and kids who already tinker can move faster.

What ages is JR Learning for?

Most programs are designed for ages 9–16, with age-banded groups and projects so the challenge always fits.

Which program should we start with?

Start with the free AI Introduction in the Self-Paced Lab — it costs nothing and shows you how your child takes to it. If you'd rather talk it through, send an inquiry with their age and interests and we'll recommend a path.

What equipment do we need?

For the Lab and the online course, any computer with a web browser and an internet connection. The Dev Kit ships the hardware you need; nothing else to buy.

Logistics

Time, pacing, and how the programs actually run.

How much time does it take each week?

The Self-Paced Lab is designed around roughly 2–3 hours a week, in bite-sized chapters they can stop and resume. Camps run as focused week-long sessions, and the online course runs 6–8 weeks.

What if they fall behind — or race ahead?

Self-paced means exactly that: there's no clock and no penalty for pausing. Chapters unlock in order so nothing is missed, and a child who's flying can finish a chapter in a sitting.

How involved do I need to be?

You unlock the Lab and we send progress to you, but the chapters are written for your child to follow independently. Most parents dip in at the project stage, when there's something to show off.

What's your refund and cancellation policy?

Our full written terms for paid cohorts are being finalised ahead of launch. Ask in an inquiry and we'll send you the current policy in writing before anything is paid.

Safety & privacy

How we treat your child's data, and what we never collect.

How do you handle privacy and safety?

We're privacy-first and built for guardians. We collect a guardian's contact details and a child's age range only — never a child's personal information.

Does my child need an account?

No. There are no child logins anywhere on this site. The Lab unlocks against a guardian's email, and nothing asks a child to register.

Is it safe for a child to use AI tools?

The AI Playground runs server-side with daily limits per student, and we never attach a child's identity to a request. Chapter 4 of the Lab is devoted to AI's limits — hallucinations, bias, and why you never type personal details into an AI.

Cost

Full prices, shown up front.

How much does it cost?

Start free with the AI Introduction. Paid courses are discounted up to 48% during our launch promo — see the pricing page for current tiers, or request info and we'll help you choose.

Can I pay on the site?

Not yet. Every program starts with an inquiry, and we handle enrolment and payment directly with you — so you can ask questions before committing to anything.

For curious kids

For kids

Questions we get from the builders themselves.

Is coding too hard for me?

Nope. You start by talking to an AI in plain English, and by Chapter 6 you're writing real Python — a few lines at a time, with someone showing you exactly what each one does.

What will I actually make?

Real things you can show people: an AI helper with its own personality, a model you trained yourself, a robot that follows a line, and a final capstone project you plan and ship on your own.

What if I break something?

You can't — and breaking things is how engineers learn. Every project can be reset and tried again, and getting it wrong the first time is the normal path, not a detour.
